The City was presented with a “once in a lifetime” opportunity to consolidate operations within the existing 90,000 square foot Liberty Mutual Insurance building in the heart of downtown Mishawaka. Alliance Architects was commissioned to complete an initial Needs Assessment and Programming Study which confirmed the feasibility of the concept. After thoughtful consideration by the City administration, the decision was then made to purchase the building and begin a formal design process. The program currently anticipates combining the city hall functions with a central police station and the municipal utilities business office. Construction is scheduled to begin in 2021.
