KINGSTON SQUARE
The Indianapolis-based development team of Crestline Communities and the Mecca Companies transformed a former industrial site into a New Urbanist, affordable housing community near downtown Kokomo. The architects designed the 68 units as a combination of garden style apartments and townhomes in order to present a varied streetscape to the surrounding residential neighborhood. A density of 18 dwelling units per acre was achieved, in part, by concentrating the parking in the center of the block and incorporating 46 attached garage spaces. Kingston Square received the LEED for Homes Gold and Silver designations.
